Babies, Bumps and Toddlers groups

There are several Babies Bumps and Toddlers groups based around Edinburgh and Lothian. Each group costs £2 per family. If you are expecting multiples it is well worth popping along to your nearest group and chatting to the those who already have twins or more. Typically snacks and beverages are available, and toys for children. It is also a chance to see which pushchairs are the easiest to handle! All the groups are very happy to welcome new multiple families.

First Year's groups

There are now two First Year's groups - these are for pregnant parents and parents in their first year of raising multiples. These groups offer a good chance to meet other people at the same stage, and talk to multiple mums who've been there already and can give advice and support.

Following the survey in early 2011, from 2nd March 2011 First Year's will run on the first Wednesday of each month, 8.00-10.00pm, alternating between Oxgangs Neighbourhood Centre in Edinburgh and St John's Hospital. Check the events calendar for dates, and the First Year's message board for announcements.

We will be there from 8pm. Tea, coffee or soft drinks are provided. There is always lots of time for questions and advice as we go along. Feel free to bring your babies and dads are always welcome too. Latecomers welcome!

Twin And Multiple Birth Antenatal Classes

Following feedback from our 2011 members survey, we will be launching a pilot antenatal class in November 2011. This will be held over three nights in November and is open to all expectant parents across the Lothians. This class will complement any other antenatal class (such as those given by the NCT or NHS) and will cover twin/multiples specific issues including:

• Birth,
• Feeding (Breast/Bottle/Mixed)
• Equipment,
• Practical Baby Care (including sleep and routines),
• Pregnancy,
• Looking After Yourself, and
• Help.

Included will be personal accounts from a selection of mums including “My Twins in Pictures” which presents life in the first year. This class will be run by members of the club to give expectant parents an insight into birth and the first year of life with their babies.

Other groups

Longniddry

The Longniddry group meets at 9.30am-11.30am on the first and third Thursday of the month in Longniddry Community Centre, but not on school holidays. The centre has a staffed shop selling drinks and snacks, overlooking the hall, giving a safe environment to chat whilst looking after babies or toddlers. There are a range of toys for babies and toddlers, and enough space for the older children to run around. There is a soft play area in the centre.

Torphichen

Meets St John’s Hall, Manse Road, Torphichen, EH48 4LT, Thursdays 9.30am to around 12. Charges £2 per family, which includes drink and biscuits for the adults and water or juice for children. Plenty of toys to suit all ages, siblings welcome too.
